Girls Soccer Wins CCS Div 1 Championship!

Hi Nation!  

We would like to Congratulate the MV Girls Soccer Team for winning the CCS Div 1 Title Saturday afternoon!    

The Spartans showed true grit as they took the pitch on Saturday against Sabrato at Del Mar High School.  To say the Spartans were beat up entering Sat contest was an understatement.  The team lost two starters to ACL tears over the past week, had one starter playing with a broken arm and a list of injuries that had Achilles cringing!

First year Coach Jeff Panos pulled together a game plan based on MV's ball control strength, brought up support from the JV squad and called on the ladies to step up to the moment and they did!  MV opened the match with two goals in the first 6 minutes and proceeded to attack, control and move the ball with pin point accuracy.  Sabrato tried to execute the same ball control game but MV was not having any of it.  The Spartan defense kept Sabrato in check the entire game and barely allowed any shots on goal while the mid fielders continually controlled the game and set up the forwards with numerous opportunities.  The score stayed 2-0 until half way through the second period when MV added a third goal.  The match ended to the cheers of the Spartan Nation and a 3-0 MV win!  

 

Congratulations to the Girls Soccer Team for a gritty performance and bringing home another CCS Championship!

 

With this win the Spartans qualified for the CIF Nor-Cal tournament and will be playing Burlingame High at 3pm Tues.
