Mental Health Week (3/9 to 3/13) and Out of the Darkness Event

Mountain View High School is having a Mental Health Awareness Week (Monday, March 9 to Friday, March 13), The student Ambassadors are working hard to organize activities for the week, with guidance from MVLA District's Wellness Coordinator William Blair, Ambassadors advisor Lauren Camarillo, and the MVHS Spartans PAUSE wellness team.

The student organizers would like to invite the community to participate in the Out of Darkness walk on Friday, March 13 from 5:30pm to sunset on the MVHS track. They have shared two files with more details (see attached):
  • Flyer showing the schedule for the week
  • Description of Out of Darkness walk
Our understanding is that the format for the Out of Darkness walk is like a simplified version of Relay for Life -- participants will be walking on the track for a couple of hours individually or in groups to show support. The student organizers talked about placing battery-powered candles in paper bags around the track as the sky gets dark. In the works are also speakers, student performances in addition to resource tables from a number supporting organizations, including CHAC, PAUSE and others.

Please join us if you can and invite others in your school community to come as well. It would be great to gather our neighborhoods together to offer our support for mental health awareness and student wellness!
